Medical Laboratory Technician Faculty & Program Coordinator

Will teach various Medical Laboratory Technician classes as assigned, as well as teach classes in other programs, as needed. Provide coordination and leadership to the Medical Laboratory Technician Program by being responsible for the organization, administration, periodic review, planning, development, evaluation and general effectiveness of the Program, including accreditation requirements.


Requirements:

1.Prepare and teach classes in the Medical Laboratory Technician Program, including laboratory sessions as required.
2.Be willing to learn and use a variety of modern teaching technologies including the use of computers and multi-media in lectures, laboratories, and distance learning environments.
3.Participate in curriculum development and review, and innovation in the delivery and design of Medical Laboratory Technician courses.
4.Develop, distribute and adhere to well-organized and appropriately detailed course outlines and syllabi.
5.Assist in the development of new courses and in the upgrading of current courses and programs.
6.Participate in upgrading medical laboratory technician program and maintaining accreditation status.
7.Assist new and continuing students in advisement capacity on courses and programs.
8.Assess and maintain records and grades of student performance.
9.Maintain regular office hours and be available to provide help for students.
10.Provide leadership and professional contributions to the Program, Division, School and College.
11.Maintain a collegial attitude toward work, students, and colleagues.
12.Demonstrate professional development in Medical Laboratory Science.
13.Maintain depth of understanding in the Medical Laboratory Science field, through professional development, and contribute to current knowledge of the discipline.
14.Maintain and pursue additional creditable academic degrees and/or certificates in ones chosen field of professional responsibility.
15.Participate in program recruitment activities.
16.Develop and maintain contacts with laboratory related agencies, organizations and other professional entities in the state of Utah.
17.Encourage community service and involvement among students.
18.Assist and advise students in professional and student organizations.
19.Attend regularly scheduled meetings and workshops and participate in committee assignments.
20. Attendance at New Faculty Orientation sessions is required.
21. Accept other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:
1.Three or more years teaching experience in a higher education institution (adjunct or full-time)
2.Demonstrated strength in teaching community college courses.
3.Demonstrated experience and knowledge of curriculum design and an educational philosophy that places the primary emphasis on student learning in the design, delivery and evaluation of courses.
4.Understanding of various learning styles and ability to employ related teaching strategies.
5.The ability to employ instructional technology appropriately both in the classroom and as a tool for distance learning.
6.Leadership experience.
7.Experience in mentoring and/or being a preceptor.
Education & Experience:
1.Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology, ASCP Certified
2.Masters Degree (e.g. MBA, MEd, Biology, Microbiology, MSPH)
3.At least 3-5 years experience working in a clinical laboratory setting
4.Teaching experience in the clinical/laboratory and/or didactic setting
5.A breadth of knowledge and experience in the field of Medical Laboratory Science
6.Actively involved in the Medical Laboratory Science Profession.
7.Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a team setting and fostering consensus.

**This position is a 12 month Faculty Appointment.**
